Waiting...

As June 1 draws closer (and I get rounder) it becomes more and more difficult to wait for Baby's arrival!  But as we try to stay patient, here's what we've been up to:

Our good friend and neighbor, Mr. Fred, turned 88 on May 2.  We celebrated with dinner and a "Too Much Chocolate Cake" (one of my favorite new cake recipes--so simple and moist!)

Last week our 8th graders went on their class trip to Durango, CO, so I accompanied our 6th and 7th graders on a day trip up to McGaffey.  The adventure included trying to light a fire with no matches and grilling burgers with no utensils (let's just say we could have been better prepared...).  I am thankful to work with such resourceful colleagues!  The students had a great day (and tasty lunch) in the end.

Today we celebrated the end of the tennis season with a little awards party at our house.  I had fun decorating cupcakes to look like tennis balls  :)  This was such a great group of players and a fun season!

So the countdown continues...1 more week until the last day of school, 2 more weeks until Baby's due date, and ??? more days until we meet our little one!

Baby Shower and More!

Last weekend, some wonderful women from our church organized a lovely Double Baby Shower for me and my friend Stephanie!

The whole shower was awesome, but some highlights included:
A diaper cake designed by the Bia ladies...

A delicious brunch...

Fun games, including "Smell the Diaper" (guessing which kind of Hershey's chocolate was melted into each diaper)...

Opening gifts (I had some great little helpers)...

Feeling so much support from my church family...

And organizing the nursery when I got home!  Here are some updated nursery pictures...

Besides my shower, it was a busy week because of the tennis district tournament in Albuquerque.  The weather was great and our players played very well; one of our girls' doubles teams even made it to the semifinals, so they will be going to the state tournament next week!

(Our car reached the big 100,000 mile mark on the way home from ABQ!)

Finally, here are some pictures from the Rehoboth Junior Senior Banquet last weekend.  Jonathan helped provide the musical ambiance during dinner and we enjoyed a nice meal with some of the other teachers and chaperones.  You can see from the pictures that Baby  just keeps getting bigger!  :)

It's just one month now until our due date.  We could be meeting Baby Newman sometime very soon!
